Welcome to the GNUkia Project Page!

The goal of this project is to offer useful GNU software or tools released under the GPL which will run on Nokia's IPSO-based IP Security Appliances. Currently, I have the following tools compiled and running under IPSO 3.4.1 on the IP650, IP330 and IP110 hardware platforms:

bash 2.05 diffutils 2.7
fileutils 4.1 findutils 4.1
git 4.3.20 less 3.5.8
rcs 5.7 screen 3.9.9
sed 3.02 shellutils 2.0
tar 1.13 textutils 2.0

The current version available for download is GNUkia 1.0 (MD5 hash: b3549ba3e394308da08b244a7604738c, 11.8 MB). It is an IPSO package I have put together and use myself because there are a few tools I enjoy using which are not included in the IPSO releases.

Please read and accept the disclaimer before downloading.

Installation Instructions

  1. Download the GNUkia package.
  2. Copy the package to your Nokia appliance. I prefer to use scp (included in the ssh distributions) as it supports strong authentication and provides and encrypted channel. Nokia KB Resolution 1313 tells you that you can do this but they don't offer an example. Click here for a transcript of the process.
  3. Verify the MD5 hash of the package. You should do this for EVERY package and image you install. GNUkia_1.0.tgz has a MD5 hash string of b3549ba3e394308da08b244a7604738c.
  4. Install the GNUkia package like any other IPSO package using the newpkg command or install through Voyager. See Nokia KB Resolution 1776 for more info.
  5. Have fun!
